If you are passing through Chateaubriand’s hometown, make a stop at the Camping Municipal du Vieux Chatel: its 70 individual plots separated by hedges accommodate tents, caravans and camper-vans (caravan park) in a beautiful rustic environment. On site are a children’s playground, a boules pitch and a games room, and you can enjoy the nearby municipal swimming pool and tennis courts at preferential rates. Combourg is just 1km from this haven of tranquillity via the literature trail that crosses the reed bed of Lac Tranquille, so dear to Chateaubriand, before arriving at the château and the medieval houses of the old town.
