Coming from Landévennec, after Le Ténénez suspension bridge, your arrival in Le Faou is greeted by a magnificent view of the river Aulne. Le Faou is classed one of the ‘most beautiful villages of France’, and in the Place aux Foires stands the neo-Breton façade of the Relais de la Place hotel. The boss, Frédéric Rivière, welcomes everybody with a big smile. Half of the 32 rooms have recently been renovated, and five can take groups or families. Michel's cuisine in the restaurant is traditional and very reasonably priced. For those who love coastal walking, it's good to know that the long-distance pathway (GR34) passes nearby, on the way to Brest or Camaret. While you are in Le Faou, don't miss the impressive line of medieval corbelled houses. If you are travelling with children you might like to try an excursion with a local donkey offered by the hotel.
