5 ideas for a perfect trip of cocooning in Brittany

Delicious food, relaxing by the fireplace... Happy!

How about a cosy weekend away? Head this way for inspiration: we have picked the best little Breton cocoons for the off-season period. Five cosy guest houses to snuggle up under the duvet and great local restaurants. When the temperatures are about to turn… enjoy an enchanted interlude.

At a glance

1. Between nature and ocean, south of Morbihan

Domaine du Kelenn in Caden

Set the world to rights together by the fireplace. It’s the perfect place for reading, recharging after a walk on the beach, in the forest or in one of the most beautiful villages of France, Rochefort-en-Terre, just eight minutes away. And the cherry on the cake: a professional massage… The ideal relaxing weekend when the weather is chilly!  Special mention for the restaurant, which uses well-sourced local produce. Little tip: when discovering Rochefort-en-Terre, plan a gourmet stop at Maison Cachée. With a redesigned setting and star-level cuisine, you really don’t want to miss it.

2. Stay Zen on the north coast

La Brise, in Roscoff

It’s all you can see as you enter the privateer city in the northern Finistère through the town centre. A four-minute walk from the beach and thalasso, La Brise is above all a display of architecture, a quirky-looking villa. Once inside, it’s a protective bubble where you’ll love everything: Juliette’s eco-responsible convictions, her attentive hospitality, the breakfast flavours and the very beautiful decoration! Take a little tour of nearby Batz island, then head to Restaurant des Bricoles: not only is it good and prettily decorated, but the view of the port is breathtaking. All you need for a happy autumn!

3. Beauty and style near Quimper

La Belle Epoque, in Kerlaz

Relaxing and escaping the whirlwind of daily life at La Belle Epoque is so good! Before or after the call of the ocean and a walk in Douarnenez bay, you’ll succumb to the call of an armchair, the hot tub and a local and tasty breakfast. Massage, yoga, why not? Otherwise, head to Quimper, 20 minutes away: in rue Saint-Mathieu, the up-and-coming Art Motion Gallery has some of the best crêpes in town, or nearly… to be compared with those of Atelier Mahé, which are very good! For a drink, dinner or tea, we recommend L’Officine or Nous Restaurant for tasty delights and timeless moments.

4. A warm environment in the port city

M la Madeleine, in Redon

70 km south of Rennes, Redon river port is an invitation to relax, in the land of 7 rivers. Close to the city centre and the towpath along the Canal, drop your luggage at M la Madeleine. In this charming, 19th-century guest house, the eaves accommodate cosy rooms with lovely contemporary décor. When the weather starts to get cold, keep warm by the fireplace and enjoy the lovely autumn colours over the city as you nibble on a cone of chestnuts – it’s compulsory in this area! For dinner or brunch, head to Le Revienz’y: pleasant service, nice setting, a good dose of gourmet food… It’s so good to relax!
