Château de Tonquédec

The majestic Château des Coëtmen, with its 11 towers, two keeps and draw-bridges, stares down on the world from a rocky spur in the middle of a forest overlooking the Léguer river. It is an excellent example of military architecture from the Middle Ages and an important element in Brittany's history. You are free to roam the castle and its exhibition or to follow a guided tour. The guides will tell you stories about the Count and Countess de Rougé, descendants of the Coëtmen family and of the Dukes of Brittany. In summer, there are special craft days when you can learn about ancient crafts, watch duels being enacted or try some typical activities that once took place within the castle walls.
