In these characterful surroundings, you'll be astonished by the bendy boat, the Villa Cheminée and the Sea Snake! Following the Estuaire contemporary art circuit you can discover the area through the works of 30 artists, positioned in outstanding locations. This three-episode artistic adventure took place in 2007, 2009, and for the last time in 2012. All the way along the 60 km of river that link Nantes to Saint-Nazaire, some 30 monumental works of art were created in situ. Some were destined to disappear, others to become firmly rooted. Today, these installations mark out an open-air visitor trail covering 12 communities. You can follow the trail on foot, by bicycle or by boat. From the docks at Nantes to the underwater base of Saint-Nazaire, the artists' route follows the curves of the Loire, an Ariadne's thread weaving its way between the works of art, the industrial sites, the peaceful harbours and the bucolic marshland.
