Musée de l'Amiral

A museum about molluscs and shellfish - and much more!
Museum, Natural sciences in Pouldreuzic
  • The only one of its kind in Brittany, a museum with 10,000 molluscs and shellfish, 200 seabirds, starfish, corals and fossils.

  • In short, a delightful little museum devoted to the wonders of the ocean. The 10,000 molluscs come from all over the world - small ones from the coasts of Brittany, large ones from warmer climes, and microscopic ones form everywhere (only visible through the magnifying system in place) - not forgetting pearl-bearing oysters. More than 200 species of birds from the Bay of Audierne are shown in their natural habitat all along an educative discovery trail. And don't miss the astonishing fossils...
In short, a delightful little museum devoted to the wonders of the ocean. And don't miss the astonishing fossils (ammonites, sea urchins, trilobites), the scintillating coloured mineral rocks, the starfish and corals. The museum is right beside the sea, so after your visit you can relax in a deckchair and watch the waves, with the children safe in a nearby play area.
