Your trip

From Redon to Châteaulin, you’ll travel in the heart of Brittany along some of the loveliest sections of the Nantes-Brest canal. Tarmac sections, unsealed roads and prepared tracks succeed one another on a very well maintained and perfectly safe towpath. From Nort-sur-Erdre to Châteaulin, the route covers 364 km and includes 238 locks that guide the water from the rivers Erdre, Oust and Aulne, wild in parts and channelled in other parts. Far from traffic, in the peace and quiet, the flat route is ideal for all levels of practice and every age. Lock keepers’ houses decorated with flowers are dotted along the way. Remarkable historical buildings – Josselin castle, Pontivy castle, Abbaye de Bon-Repos – are perfect for cultural breaks without taking your eyes off nature.
