The Bel Essor nestles among tall pine trees, and is very much a traditional campsite. Canvas bungalows, caravans and tent pitches are available and Jean-Philippe goes out of his way to look after his guests at this friendly, family-orientated campsite just 500 metres from the sandy beach at Tharon-plage. The site is right in the heart of Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, close to the shops, and there’s a snack-bar-crêperie on site as well. It’s a lively place in summer with morning workshop play...

It’s a lively place in summer with morning workshop play sessions for children, afternoon sports tournaments, and pre-dinner games, followed by karaoke or bingo nights. The water-sports centre is very close by, and nobody gets to leave Saint-Michel without a visit to the factory where the famous ‘galettes Saint-Michel’ biscuits are made using sea-salted butter! Delicious!
