Brunch & Spa: 5 great thalasso ideas !

On Sundays, it’s brunch as a couple or with the whole tribe! Here are 5 gourmet yet healthy addresses well worth a stopover, facing the sea; before a stroll along the beach or the GR®34 hiking trail, or perhaps a brunch & treatment combo at the thalasso institute. Don’t forget to make a reservation!

In the blink of an eye

1. Château life at Castel Clara

On Sunday morning, take the shuttle from Quiberon port or hop on your bike and head for Bangor to enjoy a memorable brunch at Castel Clara. Once on Belle-Ile-en-Mer island, you’ll settle back in outstanding surroundings and savour your choice of elegantly prepared and guaranteed healthy gourmet dishes. At Café Clara, everything is homemade, and the “chic bistro” ambience is an invitation to relaxation. You’ll feast on prune cake, Breton cake flavoured with salted butter, and delicious buckwheat galettes created before your very eyes! People also come here for the generous oyster bar and its ultra-fresh seafood, as well as for the fish smoked by the chef himself and the salad bar, which vie with each other in terms of colour and vitamin-packed flavours. In fine weather, brunch is served on the terrace opening onto the ocean, a delight for eyes and palate alike.

After your gourmet break:  set off in discovery of the wild coastline, as far as the Port-Coton Needles and Grand Guet Point. Feel like being well and truly pampered? Then before brunch, on with your bathrobe and make your way to the spa for a multisensory “Volupté des Mers” massage. You’ll be immersed in a cocoon of wellbeing, thanks to a series of gentle manoeuvres combined with the (well-named) “Hypno-Slow” technique. 45 minutes of pure relaxation before returning to the mainland.

2. So’Breizh Brunch in Quiberon

An unmissable experience on Quiberon peninsula, and regulars know it’s best to reserve a few days in advance. Once a month and every Sunday in the season (14 April to 29 September), the Sofitel Quiberon Thalassa Sea & Spa becomes the place to be for a gourmet stop-off with views overlooking the ocean. Here, there’s not just one but a whole selection of buffets awaiting you in the restaurant’s cosy atmosphere. The chef, Patrick Barbin, is a devotee of authentic Breton cuisine and likes to work with seasonal products. So make way for amazingly fresh oysters direct from the Gulf of Morbihan, sushi created on the spot every first Sunday of the month, refreshing multivitamin fruit juices, and the pastry chef’s sweet treats, all certain to tantalise your palate… The brunch here won’t disappoint gluten-free devotees either and is kid-friendly as well: 50% discount for under 12-year-olds.

After your gourmet break: put on your trainers and set off along the GR®34 hiking trail in immediate proximity to the hotel. Or if you prefer a spot of relaxation instead, the spa has three “Brunch & Spa” options on offer, all with free access to the relaxation area (including seawater swimming pool, therapy pool, sauna, hammam and outdoor Jacuzzi) in the afternoon. It’s your choice: 1 thalasso treatment, 2 thalasso treatments or 1 x 25-minute Zen Modelling session + 1 x 50-minute facial at the spa. A bubble of wellbeing whatever the season.

3. Buffet and hot dishes at Maison Roz Marine

Feel like a trip along the Pink Granite Coast with sea salt in the air? Warmly welcoming decoration by the Breton interior architect Christophe Bachmann, natural materials and cosy design: the youngest of Brittany’s spas ticks all the boxes as far as ambience is concerned, and there’s no lack of quality on your plate either! In the kitchen, Chef Jean-François Coudert rustles up an all-you-can-eat buffet for your pleasure, complemented by a hot dish that changes every week. Reconstituted salmon, dauphinoise potatoes and flavourful Breton poultry, local charcuterie, a range of salads, and a selection of desserts (including a delicious homemade kouign-amann) and yoghurts made in the region – you’ll find it hard not to go back there! Special low prices for children under 12 years old.

After your gourmet break: book the “brunch & relaxation” package and treat yourself to a hot-and-cold experience at the Parcours Celtique before luxuriating under the massage jets and taking a dip in the seawater pool. Or perhaps you’d prefer a treatment at the spa? Roz Marine’s signature massage makes use of the benefits of pink granite stones heated to loosen up muscle tensions and ensure in-depth relaxation (50 or 80 minutes). Free access to the gym.
